Think for yourself.

Beaver Lake has a coffee shop, who knew! ~giggle

Easy setup, 5 minutes max including rain fly.

Tried out my new tent last night at Camp Doris in the Wichita Mountains Widlife Refuge. It was so cold I thought I’d never get warm. However, my REI AirRail 1.5 Self-Inflating Pad did just what it said as well as insulating me from the cold ground. I had a cozy snooze after the guy in the campsite next to me finally stopped jabbering.

When I woke up this morning guess what? Motor mouth was up and already telling his buddies more tall tales, so after breakfast and watching a bunch of Cedar Waxwings eat my apple core I packed up and headed for the coffee shop over at Beaver Lake. It’s BYOC but the views and peace are fabulous.

I took a rustic table near the lake and set to brewing java in my new Jetboil below. It makes great coffee and you can take the container off and convert it into a small stove. Cool!

My rustic table at the Beaver Lake coffee shop!

Now it’s 61 degrees out and I’ve changed into a tank top and I’m sunning like a lizard on the plateau near Mt Scott, I call it the Internet Cafe because its just about the only place you get good cell reception up here. There are also bison or cattle near to watch while I write and sunbathe. Gotta love it!

Here’s a couple more photos of the Jetboil. Everything fits inside the container for handy backpacking.

Everything stacks neatly in the container.
